The garden redesign details
-
We were given a fairly open brief for this garden design, with only three requirements; that the design was contemporary, that the red brick wall and garage were given a makeover, and most importantly, that it would become a haven for wildlife.
-
The garden was too small to ever grow a good lawn, especially since the client has a dog, so we decided to embrace the space restrictions and go with a courtyard garden style.
We chose the calm tones of the sawn sandstone paving for its clean and modern look and because it wouldn’t take too much focus away from the planting.
Working with the client to choose a colour that would bring some character to the space, we painted the wall and shed to bring a more contemporary feel to the 1980s brickwork.
The real focal point of the design, however, is the planting. We carefully assembled a planting scheme that provides structure, habitat and 12 months of nectar sources for wildlife. We created both densely planted beds and more open, gravely ones, to enhance the habitat.
Finally we added a small raised pond stocked with native water plants.

KIND WORDS FROM OUR CLIENT
It was an absolute pleasure working with Cultivate Gardens and I couldn't recommend them more. I very much value how Ben runs his company, with respect to both customers and his employees.
