GARDEN REDESIGN AND LANDSCAPING

Clean and contemporary garden

A structured and stylish central Cambridge garden, with clean lines and minimalist planting

Before and after the garden renovation

The garden redesign details

  • We were engaged to transform the client’s long, thin, and unloved garden into a stylish and low maintenance space.

The client was looking for an modern and unfussy design, with clean lines and an elegant layout, with planting that would be striking but minimal.

Additionally there were practical requirements of a shed for tools and bikes, easy rear access and an area to keep the bins out of sight.

  • The main patio close to the house is gently divided from the rest garden with a level change, with oak sleepers providing an elegant textural contrast with the crisp sawn paving.

The long wide path down the middle of the garden grounds the space, with the central cross, feature pot and benches providing the main focal point of the garden, framed above by the pergola.

By sectioning off an area at the back with larch slatted fencing, we created a practical area of the garden where the bins and the shed could be largely hidden from view.

A contrasting gravel, and simple, structured planting continue the design theme, with a Cercis “Hearts of Gold” statement shrub providing another focal point at the end.
